Over 16 lakh devotees took part in the third grand Amrit Snan of the Maha Kumbh at the Triveni Sangam on Basant Panchmi, as per the Uttar Pradesh Information Department.

In its third grand 'Amrit Snan' at the Maha Kumbh on the occasion of Basant Panchmi, more than 16 lakh devotees took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam as of 4 AM on Monday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Maha Kumbh Administration posted, "Millions of pilgrims, saints, yogis, and visitors from around the world gathered at the sacred Triveni Sangam—the confluence of Maa Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati—seeking spiritual purification. They took a holy dip in the sacred waters during the Amrit Snan on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami at the Maha Kumbh Mela."

As per the information, by 4 AM, 16.58 lakh devotees had taken the holy dip, with the overall figure of those who took the dip since January 13 reaching 34.97 crore, information director Shishir said, adding the figure included 10 lakh kalpvasis and 6.58 pilgrims, news agency PTI reported.

Over 33 crore devotees have taken a dip at the Maha Kumbh, as of now. The Uttar Pradesh government is expecting a footfall of around five crore pilgrims on Monday alone.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on X, "Heartiest congratulations to revered saints, religious leaders, all Akharas, Kalpvasis and devotees who earned virtue by taking the holy Amrit bath at the sacred Triveni Sangam on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami in Maha Kumbh-2025, Prayagraj!"
