MP: 10-Year-Old Boy Falls Into 40-Ft Deep Borewell In Guna District, Rescue Operation Launched

Madhya Pradesh News: 10-year-old Sumit Meena fell into a 40-foot borewell in Guna, triggering a rescue operation involving multiple machines.

A 10-year-old boy, identified as Sumit Meena, fell into an open borewell in Pipliya village, Raghogarh area, on Saturday evening. The village is located approximately 50 km from Guna district headquarters. The incident occurred around 5 pm, and a rescue operation is currently underway, officials said.

Man Singh Thakur, Additional Superintendent of Police, Guna, told news agency PTI, "The rescue operation is currently ongoing. A 25-27 feet deep pit has been dug, and it has been reported that the child has fallen into a borewell approximately 40-41 feet deep. Several machines are involved in the rescue operation, and arrangements are being made for more machines."

Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh told PTI, "The child is stuck in the borewell. The entire administration is here for the rescue operation, and is trying to save the child. Several machines are involved, and everyone is praying for the rescue of the 10-year-old child."

Rajasthan: Rescue Efforts On To Save 3-Year-Old Girl 6 Days After She Fell In Borewell

Meanwhile, in Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district, a desperate rescue effort continues to save three-year-old Chetna, who has been trapped in a 150-foot deep borewell since December 23. Her mother, Dholi Devi, has been anxiously praying for her child’s safe recovery for over 110 hours.

On Saturday, a video of Dholi Devi pleading for help surfaced. "It's been six days... My daughter is hungry and thirsty. What if the girl was collector madam's child? Would she let her be there for so long? Please get my daughter out as soon as possible," she said with folded hands, as quoted by PTI.

Initial attempts to rescue Chetna using an iron ring attached to a rope failed. On Wednesday, a piling machine was brought in, and a parallel pit was dug. Heavy rain disrupted the rescue efforts on Friday.

According to PTI, Kalpana Agarwal, District Collector of Kotputli-Behror, said, "An attempt is being made to reach Chetna through an L-shaped tunnel by digging a parallel pit near the borewell. Two NDRF jawans who have descended into the pit are doing manual drilling. We are watching them on camera. The equipment they are demanding from below is being sent to them."

Local SHO Sarund Mohammad Imran added, "All possible efforts are being made (to rescue the girl). NDRF and SDRF teams are working continuously."

Despite continuous efforts, rescuers have been unable to supply food or water to Chetna, raising concerns about her survival. A team of doctors with an ambulance is stationed at the site.

This incident followed a similar case two weeks ago in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, where a five-year-old boy fell into a borewell. Although rescuers worked for more than 55 hours, the boy could not be saved.
