The non-stop rescue operation by National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) teams, assisted by the local police and administration continued despite the rain on Thursday night as the rainwater made the sand slippery. While initial attempts were made to pull the girl out of the borewell with the help of a ring, these attempts failed as the borewell was narrow and the technique could not deliver results.
On Wednesday, a piling was brought to the site and a pit was dug parallel to where the girl is stuck. Sarund SHO Mohammad Imran said, that a horizontal tunnel will be made through which the experts will reach the girl. A team of doctors with an ambulance were also at the spot.
However, NDRF said that because of the rain rescue efforts made it difficult to rescue the girl although they continued to make progress. “We have already dug all the way down, and now the casing pipe will go to the bottom. This is being done for the safety of our rescuers, as the soil here is loose. After everything is in place, the tunnel excavation will begin," he said, as per ANI.
Chetna was 150 feet below but was pulled up 30 feet by NDRF with the help of clips. Earlier, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) OP Saran said, "Using clips, we have brought her around 30 feet above. We are trying to rescue her and the NDRF team is also engaged in the same. Oxygen is being continuously provided to her. we are trying to save her by boring nearby."
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Brajesh Chaudhary said on Tuesday that the priority of the rescue team now is to save the child alive.
Kotputli-Behror District Collector Kalpana Agarwal reached the village late Wednesday night to take stock of the situation. She said that the rescue operation had been constantly going on.
