RG Kar Hospital Case: CBI Interrogates TMC Youth Leader
This development comes after the central agency on Thursday interrogated Ashish Pandey, a youth leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a house staff member at RG Kar Medical College, in connection with the rape and murder of the trainee doctor. An officer told news agency PTI that Pandey was questioned for several hours at the CBI's CGO Complex office and left late last night. His phone number was found in the call lists of multiple individuals, raising questions about his activities on the day the doctor’s body was discovered. Notably, Pandey checked into a hotel in Salt Lake with a female acquaintance on the same day the trainee doctor's body was located.
"We are trying to ascertain his activities on that day," the CBI officer stated, as per PTI. The agency has also summoned hotel authorities for information regarding Pandey’s bookings and payments. According to the officer, the hotel room was reserved through an app, with Pandey checking in on August 9 and departing the following morning. "We are trying to find out what was the purpose of his stay there," the officer added.
The investigation has drawn national outrage following the discovery of the trainee doctor’s body at the hospital on August 9.
