Hyderabad To Face Water Supply Disruption In Multiple Localities On March 8 — Know Details

Hyderabad Water Supply Hit: The work, scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, is part of the National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) flyover construction project in the area.

Hyderabad Water Supply Hit: Several areas in Hyderabad will experience water supply disruptions or low-pressure water flow on March 8 as Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) undertakes crucial pipeline shifting work near the BHEL junction. The work, scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, is part of the National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) flyover construction project in the area.

Hyderabad Areas To Be Affected

According to an official statement from HMWS&SB, the 1500 mm diameter water pipeline at BHEL flyover needs to be relocated to facilitate the infrastructure project, reported Siasat.

As a result, water supply will be affected in multiple localities, including Erragadda, S.R. Nagar, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Moosapet, Jagadgirigutta, RC Puram, Ashok Nagar, Jyoti Nagar, Lingampalli, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Deepthi Sri Nagar, Biramguda, Aminpur, and Nizampet, as per a report on Telangana Today.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use water judiciously during the disruption.

Water Supply Board Intensifies Crackdown

In a parallel development, the HMWS&SB has tightened enforcement against water misuse, particularly amid rising temperatures and declining groundwater levels. On Wednesday, a resident of Jubilee Hills was fined Rs 1,000 for using drinking water to wash his bike—a violation of municipal water conservation guidelines.

Authorities have repeatedly warned against the wasteful use of potable water for non-essential activities such as vehicle washing, gardening, construction, decorative fountains, and road cleaning.

Residents and businesses found misusing drinking water risk facing fines and strict penalties with officials encouraging the public to report violations to help manage the city's water resources effectively.

Last year, Hyderabad witnessed a severe water crisis due to a water level. The groundwater table dropped significantly from 2 meters to 7 meters.
