Hyderabad Metro will extend services on New Year's Eve for commuters' convenience. To ensure smooth traffic flow, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have imposed traffic restrictions from 11 PM to 2 AM.

To facilitate smooth New Year's Eve celebrations and to ensure safe travel for commuters, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has extended its operating hours on New Year’s Eve. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited managing director NVS Reddy stated that the last train will depart from all terminal stations at 12:30 AM and reach their respective terminals by 1:15 AM on January 1, 2025, providing safe and convenient late-night connectivity to passengers.

"This would underscore Hyderabad Metro's commitment to enhancing passenger convenience during special occasions," he added.

Traffic Restrictions in Hyderabad For New Year Celebrations

To facilitate smooth traffic flow during the New Year’s Eve celebrations on the night of December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced several traffic restrictions. Enhanced police deployment will be in place at 172 key intersections and busy junctions across the city to ensure road safety and maintain traffic discipline.

The police will concentrate their efforts in high-traffic zones such as markets, malls, and popular celebration spots, including Tank Bund, NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road), as well as commercial areas and entertainment hubs like Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Khairathabad, and Saifabad. Restaurants, pubs, and shopping centers in these areas will also be under close watch.

Private buses, lorries, and heavy passenger vehicles heading to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and other states must use the ORR to bypass the city limits during this time.

Flyover Closures

All flyovers in the city, except those at Begumpet and Tolichowki, will remain closed on the night of December 31. However, the PVNR Expressway Flyover will be operational exclusively for passengers with valid tickets traveling to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

Additionally, these venues must adhere to prescribed liquor service hours and offer safe transportation options for intoxicated customers.
