Former CM Vijay Rupani Onboard Air India Plane That Crashed In Gujarat
An Air India Boeing Dreamliner 787, carrying 242 passengers, including former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, crashed into Ahmedabad airport's perimeter wall en route to London.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was onboard the Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12. He was going to meet his daughter, who lives in London. His wife, Anjali Rupani, is also in London. She was supposed to return to India with the former Chief Minister.
It was an Air India passenger plane -- a Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. It had a capacity of 300 passengers. It was going to London and had a lot of fuel for the journey.
As many as 242 passengers were likely to have been on board the plane, as per news agency ANI. The plane is believed to have crashed into a perimeter wall of the airport.

The flight crashed into a hostel that housed junior doctors. Several doctors were injured in the incident.
Around 242 people were onboard the plane. Flight AI 171 from Ahmedabad to London, Gatwick, was involved in the crash shortly after takeoff, outside the airport. As a result, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, is currently not operational. All flight operations are temporarily suspended until further notice.
Former minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, "I had a programme at Gujarat Vidyapeeth. After returning, I was having lunch and turned on the TV when I saw that a flight from Ahmedabad to London had crashed. I became worried because I knew Vijay Rupani was scheduled to travel to London today, though I didn’t know he was on this flight. I immediately turned off the TV and came to his residence in Gandhinagar. I am now heading to the civil airport for more information"
