Elderly Man Assaulted By Doctor, Dragged Through Hospital In Madhya Pradesh, FIR Lodged As Video Surfaces
A video has sparked outrage after showing a doctor and hospital staff allegedly assaulting and dragging an elderly man in Madhya Pradesh. The incident has prompted a police investigation.

A video has surfaced on social media showing a doctor and staff members at Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur District Hospital allegedly assaulting and dragging a man believed to be over 70 years old. The incident, reportedly recorded on April 17, went viral on Sunday, sparking outrage across social media platforms and prompting a police investigation.
The video appears to show a doctor slapping the elderly man near his ear before he and other hospital staff forcibly drag him, allegedly threatening to lock him inside the hospital’s police post.
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari shared the video on social media. In his post, he alleged that the elderly man was not only beaten and dragged but also thrown out of the hospital by the doctors and staff. Patwari wrote: “A 75-year-old man was not only kicked and punched by the doctors and hospital staff of Chhatarpur District Hospital, but was also brutally dragged and thrown out of the hospital! The only fault of the old man who came for his wife’s treatment was that he was unable to stand in the long queue for long, so he was pleading for his wife’s treatment to be done quickly!”
Criticising the state government, Patwari added, “The government that cannot respect the elderly should be ashamed! The government that cannot provide health security should be out of power!”
FIR Filed After Assault Video Goes Viral, Patient Narrates Incident
According to a senior police official who spoke to news agency IANS, an inquiry into the incident is underway. “The doctor will be questioned, and a formal police complaint (FIR) will be filed,” the official stated. The patient, identified as Uddhavlal, has also come forward with his version of events, while the doctor has reportedly lodged a complaint with the local police.
Speaking to the media, Uddhavlal said he had visited the hospital seeking treatment for a stomach nerve issue. He alleged that an argument ensued while he was standing in the queue, following which the doctor assaulted and manhandled him. “The doctor slapped me near my ear, dragged me, and took me to the police post in front of everyone,” he claimed, as per IANS.
He further explained that the confrontation began when the doctor questioned his presence in the queue amidst the crowd and grew irate when he pleaded for expedited treatment for his ailing wife.
The incident has raised serious concerns about patient rights and the conduct of medical personnel in public healthcare facilities.
The investigation is currently ongoing, and further action is expected following the review of the viral footage and statements from all parties involved.
