Eight Dead In Massive Fire At Solapur's Central Textile Mills

A massive fire at Solapur's Central Textile Mills claimed eight lives, including a child, after a suspected short circuit. Firefighters battled the blaze for 17 hours.

In a tragic series of fire incidents on Sunday, multiple lives were lost in separate blazes that broke out in Maharashtra’s Solapur district and Telangana’s Hyderabad city.

A devastating fire erupted early Sunday morning at the Central Textile Mills in the MIDC area of Solapur, Maharashtra, claiming the lives of eight people, including three women and a child. The blaze, which officials believe was triggered by a short circuit around 3:45 am, quickly spread through the factory located on Akkalkot Road, approximately 400 km from Mumbai.

Among the deceased were the factory owner, Haji Usman Hasanbhai Mansuri, three members of his family, including his one-and-a-half-year-old grandson, and four factory workers. The fire reportedly broke out at 3:30 in the morning and took nearly 17 hours to be brought under control, according to Fire Officer Rakesh Salunke. "Fire brigade personnel have also been injured in this rescue operation. It took 17 hours to control the fire," Salunke said.

Initial reports indicate that the intensity of the blaze made firefighting efforts particularly challenging, with personnel battling the flames for five to six hours before gaining control. Further investigations into the cause and extent of the damage are underway.

17 Killed in Hyderabad Pearl Shop Blaze

Meanwhile, another deadly fire incident was reported on the same day in Hyderabad, where a blaze broke out in a pearl shop at Gulzar House near the iconic Charminar. The fire, which reportedly ignited on the ground floor and spread rapidly to the upper floors, claimed 17 lives, including eight children from the same family.

According to a statement from the Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency And Civil Defence, "Today, upon receiving information at 06:16 AM that a fire broke out in the G+2 building at Gulzar House Chowrasta, Charminar, the Moghalpura water tender and its crew rushed to the scene of the fire. The fire broke out on the Ground floor and spread to the upper floors. 23 Firefighting, Search & Rescue operations were carried out simultaneously."
