Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Walks Out Of Rohtak Jail On Another Furlough
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, currently serving a 20-year sentence for rape, has been granted a 21-day furlough and will spend it at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh walked out of Rohtak’s Sunaria jail on Wednesday morning again after being granted a 21-day furlough by the Haryana government. Singh is serving a 20-year prison sentence for the rape of two female disciples.
He will spend his days in furlough at the Dera headquarters on Begu Road in Sirsa. He was escorted from ther Rohtak jail under heavy police security
This isn’t the first time the self-styled godman is out temporarily. Earlier this year, he was granted a 30-day parole just a week before the Delhi Assembly elections. On that occasion, he also stayed at the Sirsa-based Dera compound. In previous instances, Singh has spent time at the sect’s ashram in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat during his release periods.
What has raised eyebrows is the timing of these releases. Singh’s furloughs and paroles have frequently aligned with election cycles in states like Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan — regions where the Dera Sacha Sauda holds sway among voters. In Haryana alone, several constituencies reportedly have large groups of followers loyal to the Dera.
Singh was convicted in August 2017 by a special court in Panchkula on two counts of rape, following a years-long investigation and legal battle. The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of ₹15 lakh for each of the victims. The conviction sparked widespread protests and unrest at the time.
