Delhi Weather Flip-Flop Continues As National Capital Breaks 6-Year Record. Here's Next Week's IMD Forecast

Delhi Weather News: Delhi's minimum temperature is expected to rise over the next week. On January 31, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 10°C and the maximum about 26°C.

Delhi Weather Today: The weather in Delhi continues to fluctuate. After the bone-chilling cold earlier this month, Delhi recorded its hottest January day in nearly six years on Thursday. The temperature went up to 26.7 degrees Celsius, which was 4.6 degrees above normal. On January 21, 2019, the temperature was recorded at 28.7 degrees Celsius.

However, the temperature quickly dipped and went down to 10.8 degrees Celsius at 5.30 AM on Friday. The chill was accompanied by fog in some areas of the Delhi-NCR, bringing down visibility. Visibility around the Safdarjung weather station was recorded at 200 metres. The weather in Noida was almost the same in the Noida-Greater Noida-Ghaziabad region.

As the temperature rapidly dropped on Thursday night, destitute people were seen thronging night shelters for protection.

A light layer of fog was seen in Delhi on Friday morning. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around the 10 degrees Celsius mark and the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 26 degrees Celsius on January 31. There are indications of an increase in the minimum temperature and a decrease in the maximum temperature over the next week.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is forecast to be 11 degrees and the maximum temperature is forecast to be 24 degrees on February 2. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 10 degrees and the maximum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees on February 3. The Meteorological Department says that light rain is expected in the NCR on this day.

The maximum temperature could drop from 26 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius by February 5 on account of a Western Disturbance. On the other hand, the minimum temperature may slightly rise from 11 degrees Celsius to 13 degrees Celsius.

The sky over Delhi will be cloudy on February 3 and 4. Thunderstorms are forecast on both days. According to the IMD, the flip-flop in the weather conditions in the national conditions will continue over the next week.

AQI 381 on January 30

Although Delhiites got some relief from the bone-chilling cold, the alarming rise in pollution levels remained a concern. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi once again reached the 'very poor' category with the reading going up to 381 on Thursday, a day after GRAP III restrictions were imposed in the national capital.

At 9 AM on Friday, the AQI dipped marginally but remained alarming at 350, according to the Early Warning System (EWS).
