Delhi Weather Forecast To Heat Up This Week, No Rain Relief In Sight

Delhi Weather Today: Delhiites are bracing for an intense summer ahead. In the next few months, temperatures will be significantly higher than average. A rapid increase in both minimum and maximum temperatures during the day is likely now that the cold wind spells are almost over. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has asked residents to be cautious of the heat. There is no heatwave warning till April 6, though, despite the forecast of the maximum temperature going up to 38 degrees Celsius.
Strong Winds In Delhi To Continue
According to the IMD, strong winds will continue to blow over Delhi on Tuesday, April 1, with speeds in the range of 10-20 kmph. The minimum temperature is forecast to be 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature 36 degrees Celsius during the day. A rise in temperature is expected this week, with the minimum temperature likely to rise to around 21 degrees Celsius by April 6.
According to the IMD forecast, strong winds are expected in Delhi during the day on April 4 and 5 as well.
In Delhi on Monday, the minimum temperature recorded was 13.8 degrees Celsius, which was 4.3 degrees Celsius below normal. While the maximum temperature recorded was 35 degrees, which was 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal. The humidity level was 42% at 8:30 AM.
Heatwave Likely Next Week
As per private weather forecasting agency Accuweather, the temperature in Delhi on April 8 could be around 43 degrees Celsius, with the 'real feel' going up to 45 degrees Celsius. Citizens are advised to stay indoors as much as possible.
If stepping out, clothing must be worn to cover as much of the skin as possible to avoid overexposure to UV rays. The UV Index is likely to be very high at around 10.
Delhi Air Quality Improves
According to the Early Warning System data, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was 137 at 5.30 AM on Tuesday, which falls in the 'moderate' category. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and 401 to 500 'severe'.
