Delhi: Viral Video Shows People Bathing In Sunder Nursery Pond, Social Media Calls It 'Shameful'
A video showing people swimming in an ornamental pond at Delhi's Sunder Nursery has sparked outrage. Social media users criticised the disrespectful behaviour in the historic park.

A video shot at Delhi's lush Sunder Nursery has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The clip shows a group of people including adults, splashing around in one of the ornamental ponds, an act strictly prohibited in the historic green space.
Sunder Nursery, located adjacent to Humayun’s Tomb, is cherished for its Mughal-era gardens, restored monuments, and biodiversity zones. Intended to be a tranquil space for nature lovers and heritage enthusiasts, the park has faced backlash from social media users following this latest breach of decorum.
In the now-viral video, shared with the caption “Swimming pool in Sunder Nursery... just to give awareness regarding to keep the place clean and pretty, don't mess way too deep,” the individuals can be seen treating the reflective water feature like a personal pool. The video has amassed over 316,000 views.

Social Media Reacts After Sunder Nursery Video Goes Viral
Online reactions were swift and critical. One user lamented, “Sunder Nursery is the only decent park left in Delhi. Now the authorities will impose more restrictions, ruining it for regular visitors.” Another user slammed the behaviour, saying, “This is so shameful. Creating ruckus in public spaces and destroying things are considered fun by this Instagram generation.”
Others expressed concern that such incidents could lead to higher entry fees and tighter regulations, which would impact genuine visitors.
"Adults acting like toddlers… now the ticket price will increase & restrictions too,” one commenter wrote. Another said, "This is exactly why tickets are mandatory, to maintain discipline and preserve such beautiful spaces. Sadly, there’s still a lack of awareness among people. While security is present, it ultimately comes down to individuals being responsible and respectful towards public spaces like Sundar Nursery. We all need to understand the purpose of these places and use them mindfully."
The incident has prompted calls for stricter surveillance, more visible signage, and possibly penalties for those who misuse public heritage spaces. A woman commented, "We don't deserve beautiful structures and sites, we only deserve those mountains of garbage! So disappointing."
Park authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
