Delhi Govt Asks Hospitals To Monitor Increase In Respiratory Illness As HMPV Cases Reported In India
Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj directed the Health And Family Welfare Department to maintain careful tracking of any such trends in the country.
HMPV In India: Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday directed hospitals to monitor and report any increase in respiratory illness cases after three cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) were confirmed in India." It is also emphasized that
"HMPV is already circulating globally including India and cases of respiratory illness associated with HMPV have been reported in various countries. Therefore it is important to carefully monitor the situation in the national capital territory region," the minister said in a statement.
He directed the Health And Family Welfare Department to maintain careful tracking of any such trends in the country. "The department should be in touch with the Union Health Ministry to get timely updates about the preparedness in the capital. It is important that the
Hospitals of Govt. of NCT of Delhi should be well-equipped to handle any potential increase in respiratory illness as per the advice of the Union Health Ministry," he added.
He asked the Secretary (Health) to physically visit three Delhi hospitals daily starting with the largest ones and submit a daily report on EDL Lists of the hospitals, availability of medicines, availability of ICU Beds, working condition of radiological equipment, operational status of PSA plants, whether Data Entry Operators are available on OPD/IPD counters and whether SOP related to acute respiratory illness is in place.
