Delhi Blast: CCTV footage has emerged showing the moment an explosion tore through a wall of a school in Delhi's Rohini on Sunday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident raised alarm amid numerous bomb threat calls to airlines across India. A loud blast occurred near the CRPF school in the Prashant Vihar area on Sunday morning at approximately 7.50 am. A car and a bike were seen passing by the spot shortly before the explosion while the two cars were parked on the adjacent road at the time of the blast.

According to the Delhi Police, the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell. The glasses of a nearby shop and a car parked near the shop were found to be damaged, prompting the area to be cordoned off.

Plumes of smoke were observed billowing from the site.

A purported video of the aftermath circulated on social media, depicting dense white smoke.

Delhi Blast: Firecracker Or Crude Bomb? Probe On To Ascertain Cause Of Explosion

Delhi Police are collecting mobile network data to identify individuals present near the explosion, which is suspected to have been caused by a crude bomb. Forensic experts discovered a suspicious white powder at the scene and sent it to a laboratory for analysis, PTI reported. Additionally, soil samples were collected from a hole dug near the school's wall.

“Whether it is some kind of explosive or anything else can only be ascertained after we thoroughly examine it,” stated a senior official, as per PTI. NSG commandos deployed robots to scan the area for any additional explosive materials.

The area has been cordoned off by officials from the National Security Guard (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Delhi Police, who are on high alert due to the festival season. An FIR is being registered under The Explosives Act.

Senior police officers, including those from the crime branch and the Special Cell, as well as the fire brigade, responded promptly after the incident was reported. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a call regarding the blast near the school's boundary wall and dispatched two fire engines to the site. However, they returned after confirming that there was no fire and no injuries.

“Our forensic team and crime unit are at the spot to collect samples from the blast location. It could be a firecracker, but we are investigating the entire matter from all angles,” remarked a senior police officer, as quoted by PTI.

According to PTI, a local resident shared, “It was around 7.30 am when we heard a very loud noise. We thought that an LPG cylinder exploded nearby. We immediately informed the police and the fire brigade.”

Another local, Rakesh Gupta, expressed confusion: “People came out of their houses immediately after the explosion. We are very confused about what has happened.” Sumit, who runs a sunglasses shop near the blast site, added, “My window panes got shattered. Everything inside my shop fell on the ground. It was a very intense blast.”
