Bulldozer Action In Delhi's Ashok Vihar As Govt Continues Encroachment Demolition Drive: VIDEO
Delhi's Ashok Vihar-Wazirpur slums face demolition amid heavy police presence as part of CM Rekha Gupta’s anti-encroachment drive targeting illegal structures across the capital.

A massive demolition drive is being carried out in the slums of Delhi's Ashok Vihar-Wazirpur area amid massive police protection. Several "illegal" structures were demolished during the drive by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) excavators and diggers (also known as bulldozers or JCB machines in common parlance). The demolition is part of the Rekha Gupta government's anti-encroachment drive across the national capital.

The action comes just days after similar demolition drives in Kalkaji and Jangpura.
Approximately 250 police personnel were stationed at the site in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar to maintain order and prevent unrest. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh, the demolition was being carried out in the Jailer Wala Bagh area of Ashok Vihar, reported news agency PTI.
A Special Task Force (STF), accompanied by multiple excavators, arrived early in the day to begin razing structures identified for removal. Officials confirmed that more than 200 homes, deemed to be illegally built on government land, are scheduled for demolition as part of the exercise.
The area remained tense, with families watching helplessly as the bulldozers rolled in. While some residents scrambled to salvage their belongings, others stood silently, awaiting their turn as the decades-old structures were reduced to rubble.
This drive is part of an ongoing effort by civic authorities to reclaim public property across the capital. However, the move has also triggered a wave of opposition. Aam Aadmi Party has been protesting the demolition drives, terming them illegal.
Those affected by the demolition drives also claimed that they were being evicted illegally. Some of them said that they did not even get any eviction notice from the DDA.
