‘I Am Sorry’…: Aspirant's Suicide Note Days Before Coaching Centre Deaths Highlights Pain Of Living In Delhi

A student from Maharashtra died by suicide days before the coaching centre deaths highlighting various financial and mental strain they go through while preparing for the civil services examinations.

The recent incident involving the death of three civil services aspirants in Delhi has once again reared the ugly head of the financial and mental woes that students face while preparing for these exams in a hope to get their seat in the country's bureaucracy.

Students come from places far and wide across the country to Delhi, mainly Old Rajender Nagar, to prepare for such examinations but immense mental pressure topped with exploitative practices of hostels and PG accommodations make it a game of survival for the students.

A student from Maharashtra succumbed to this pressure and died by suicide, just days before the three students died by drowning in a flooded basement of a coaching centre sparking nationwide outrage.

In a note left by the Maharashtra student, she said that she was unable to cope with the immense pressure, reported NDTV.

She also detailed the relentless pressure of UPSC preparation and criticised the exploitative practices of private hostels and PG accommodations.

"I am sorry mummy papa. I am really very fed up... there are just problems & issues only no peace only. I tried every possible way to get rid from this so called depression, but I can't overcome it (sic)," she said.

According to one of her friends, she had attempted the exam thrice but could not get through, the report stated.

"She made 3 attempts and gave it her all every time, but could not clear the exam. The pressure was growing on her. Even the financial pressure was building as the rent in the area was increasing every few months," Shweta said.

The Delhi police said they are investigating the case and examining the conditions that led to this tragic incident
