What’s Ahead: Brief Respite, Then Intensifying Rain
While a temporary lull in rainfall was expected on June 28, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that heavy rains are likely to intensify again by June 29 and 30, especially in mid-hill and high-altitude areas. An orange alert remains in place, indicating a heightened risk of floods and landslides.
Districts such as Una, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, and Sirmaur are under a stronger warning, with additional heavy rainfall predicted in Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla — potentially worsening the already critical situation.
District-wise Forecast:
Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra: Light to moderate rain, with isolated spells of very heavy downpours.
Kullu, Una, Chamba: Light to moderate rainfall expected.
Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti: Isolated light showers predicted in the coming hours.
The IMD continues to issue regular SMS alerts and bulletins to local authorities and the State Disaster Management Authority to ensure timely response and public safety.
