The gunfight started when security personnel on an anti-Naxal operation along the Bijapur-Dantewada border spotted the Naxals and issued a warning.
Bastar Development Efforts
Amid ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to present a comprehensive master plan aimed at transforming the conflict-ridden Bastar region. The strategy focuses on turning the Naxal-affected areas into hubs of infrastructure, industry, and tourism, reported news agency ANI.
CM Sai highlighted that Naxalism in the state is now in its final phase, thanks to sustained security operations and active public participation. He said the coordinated efforts of the police and central forces have significantly improved conditions in several former strongholds, fostering greater public trust in government initiatives.
"The situation has changed dramatically. With a blend of strategic security measures and developmental initiatives, we are paving the way for a prosperous Bastar," Sai was quoted as saying by ANI.
The state government is now pushing forward with plans to position Bastar as an emerging industrial and economic powerhouse, aiming to generate employment and uplift the living standards of tribal communities.
Surrenders In Bijapur As Naxal Influence Weakens
Last week, 17 Naxals voluntarily surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav confirmed the surrender, stating, "Seventeen Naxals have laid down their arms in Bijapur district. They were actively involved in various roles within the Gangaloor area committee of the banned Maoist organization."
