Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma faces transfer recommendations after unaccounted cash was found at his residence.

Justice Yashwant Varma, the judge of Delhi High Court, is in the midst of a major row after unaccounted cash was found at his bungalow in the city over the Holi weekend. He was appointed to the court in the national capital in October 2021. Before that, he sat at the Allahabad High Court.
In the latest development in the case, the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna met on Thursday and made the recommendations of Justice Varma's transfer to the Central government to his parent High Court of Allahabad.
The apex court's five-member Collegium met and decided unanimously to recommend the transfer of Justice Varma. Besides CJI Khanna, Justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant, Abhay S Oka, and Vikram Nath are the members.
Who Is Yashwant Varma?
Justice Yashwant Varma was first appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court in October 2014. He took an oath as the permanent member of that court two years later, in February 2016.
According to the website of the Delhi High Court, Justice Varma was born on January 6, 1969, in Allahabad, now called Prayagraj. He studied B Com at Delhi University's Hansraj College and was awarded his LL.B. from the Rewa University in Madhya Pradesh.
Justice Varma enrolled in the Allahabad High Court as an advocate in 1992. He handles matters relating to the Constitution and labour disputes, as well as laws governing industries and corporations and taxes.
Justice Varma was also the special counsel for the Allahabad High Court. He also served as the state's chief standing counsel.
The senior judge is still to respond to the events. He also did not hold the court today. According to news agency PTI, the court officials said that the judge is on leave.
