Chennai Power Outage Alert: Check Areas That Will Face Supply Disruption On July 8 For Maintenance Work

Power shutdown in multiple Chennai areas on July 8 from 9 AM to 2 PM due to maintenance work. Check the full list of affected localities and plan your day accordingly.

Residents across several key areas in Chennai will face a temporary power cut on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced that electricity will be suspended from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM due to scheduled maintenance activities. However, officials noted that the power supply may be restored earlier if the work is completed ahead of time.

Here’s a breakdown of the areas that will be affected:

Tambaram Zone

Power will be off in Chitlapakkam Area, ThiruViKa Nagar, Hari Doss Puram Main Road, Amman Koil Street, Agathiyar Street, and Sarva Mangala Nagar. Other affected streets include UV Swaminathan Street, Paman Samy Salai, Babu Street, Sudha Avenue, Kalaivanar Street, and surrounding regions like Ramakrishna Nagar, Ramakrishnapuram, Vaithiyalingam Salai, and Sharma Nagar. Residents in Thirumalai Nagar, Bagyam Nagar, Sembakkam Manavalan Nagar, Senthil Avenue, and Lakshmi Nagar will also be impacted, along with Navaneetham Nagar, VGP Pon Nagar, Kamaraj Nagar 8th Street, and Jayendra Nagar (1st to 13th Streets).

Adyar Region

Shastri Nagar's 1st and 3rd Seaward Roads, Balakrishna Road, Jayaram Nagar, and Kuppam Beach Road will see outages. Power will also be suspended in Raja Srinivasan Nagar Main Road, Rajagopalan Main Road, Teachers Colony (1st to 4th Street), Vembuliamman Koil Street, CGE Colony, and Jayaram Street.

Selaiyur Localities

Affected areas include Ramana Nagar, Madambakkam Main Road, Manickam Avenue, and parts of ALS Nagar, Padmavathy Nagar, and Agaram Main Road. Vedachalam Nagar and SR Colony will also experience power cuts.

PT Rajan Salai and Surroundings

A vast section, including KK Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Vadapalani, PT Rajan Salai, and Rani Anna Nagar, will face power suspension. SSB Nagar, Venkatesapuram (14th & 15th Sector), Alagar Perumal Koil Street, and several smaller colonies and streets such as Masthanali Garden, Baby Colony, Soundarapandian Salai, and Anugraha Colony are included. Also impacted: streets from 1st to 4th, 6th, 18th, and 19th Avenue, Ottagapalayam (1st–13th Streets), and several parts of Arcot Road and surrounding localities.

Sholinganallur Stretch

Power cuts are expected in Medavakkam Pushpa Nagar, Perumal Koil Arch, Appar Street, and multiple nearby streets. Apartments and colonies such as Sai Ayusha Flats, Raga Amirtha Flats, Embassy Residency, and Dhosi Apartment will be affected. Residents near Chaitanya School, Perumbakkam Global Hospital, NPS School, and Gurudev Colony are also advised to prepare for the outage.

Arumbakkam Area

The outage will affect 100 Feet Road, Jai Nagar (17th, 18th, and 21st–23rd Streets), Valluvar Salai, Amaravathi Nagar, SVP Nagar, and Jaganathan Nagar (2nd Main Road). Additional areas include Perumal Koil Garden and Ramakrishna Street.

Porur And Adjacent Zones

Karambakkam Mahalakshmi Nagar, Budhar Colony, Kamala Nagar, Arcot Road, and Rajeswari Nagar will experience disruptions. Other affected areas include Iyyappanthangal Mount Poonamallee Salai, Chandra Nagar, Swamynathan Nagar, Jasmine Court, and more.

Triplicane And Surroundings

Residents in Alangatha Street, Arumuga Chetty Street, and several adjoining lanes such as Firewood Bank Shell Street, Singaperumal Koil Street, and Triplicane High Road will be affected. Power will also go out on Karpaga Kanniannan Koil 1st to 5th Streets and other internal roads.

ICE House Region

Areas like Nadukuppam (1st to 6th Street), Ram Nagar (1st to 8th Street), and Elephant Tank (1st to 6th Street) are on the list. Other streets include Dr Natesan Road, Kutharth Ali Makkan Street, and Suresh Makkan Street.

Mylapore

Some parts of Mylapore and RK Salai will also see temporary power interruptions.

TANGEDCO has urged residents in the affected areas to plan their day accordingly and take necessary precautions, especially for work-from-home setups and households with elderly or medically dependent individuals.
