Earlier, Jitendra Rana, Inspector General (IG) of the central range (Patna), told news agency PTI that six assailants have been captured by the police.
"Several teams have been formed to nab the accused. Police have identified all the accused who were involved in the killing of Chandan Mishra. At least six people have been detained in Patna and Buxar in connection with the incident,” he said.
Five armed men entered a hospital and casually walked into a patient's room in Patna, pumped pellets into him, and escaped. According to CCTV footage, five shooters could be seen pulling out their guns, opening the cabin's door, and then escaping. Chandan Mishra, the target, died during the treatment.
The audacity of the shooting—carried out within the premises of a medical facility in the heart of the state capital—has raised serious questions about security and policing in Bihar. The incident is the latest in a troubling series of violent crimes that have rocked the state in recent weeks.
Pattern Of Shootings In Patna
Earlier this month, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead outside his Patna residence, despite reportedly seeking police protection for his family. His murder was followed by the killing of another BJP leader, Vikram Jha, who was shot in the Ram Krishna Nagar area. Jha succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
On Sunday, two more individuals—a lawyer and a teacher—were gunned down in separate incidents in Patna and Saran districts, respectively.
