Bomb Scare In Aligarh: AMU Authorities Roped In As Suspects Remain At Large Even After Six Days

AMU authorities, led by Proctor Mohamad Waseem Ali, have been working alongside the law enforcement, analysing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

Bomb Threat In Aligarh: A search to find the suspects involved in issuing the bomb threat at Aligarh Junction Railway Station six days ago is still underway. The authorities had initiated probe on November 7 when the Railway Police Force (RPF) received the alert regarding a potential threat at the station. Now, the investigation team has sought assistance from the Aligarh Muslim University to help trace the suspects.

AMU authorities, led by Proctor Mohamad Waseem Ali, have been working alongside the law enforcement, analysing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

Ali stated on Tuesday that despite their efforts, the suspects have not yet been identified. "We have not yet found anyone matching the descriptions from the footage. However, we are continuing our efforts," he told news agency PTI.

RPF Aligarh in-charge Amit Kumar Singh stated their force is coordinating with the local police and AMU to find the culprits. "We have been maintaining round-the-clock surveillance since receiving the tip-off and are in constant communication with AMU authorities and local police," Singh said.

The probe into the bomb scare began after an auto-rickshaw driver reported to the police at the Bhanbola outpost, which comes under Civil Lines police station, that he had dropped two young men from near the AMU campus to the railway station.

He claimed to have overheard the duo during the ride discussing plans to plant a bomb at the Aligarh railway station. This alerted him and he promptly drove to the Civil Lines police to complaint about it, who then further informed about it to the RPF. The police swiftly conducted security measures at the station to prevent any mishap.

The railway authorities reviewed CCTV footage and were able to identify the two suspects with the driver's help. The footage also showed them talking to an unidentified individual, though their identities remain unclear.
