Bhopal: Congress Claims BJP Goons Forcibly Making People Party Members In Govt Ration Shop, Shares Video

The opposition also claimed that BJP workers were coercing individuals into joining the party, with those who resisted being assaulted.

Congress has hit out at the BJP membership campaign in Madhya Pradesh claiming that a viral video shows party 'goons' forcing people to get membership at a ration shop in Bhopal. 

The opposition party shared a video on its social media handle X, questioning the unfair method used by the BJP 'gang' to enroll people.

In the video, a person recording the video could be seen confronting some people sitting at a ration shop in Bhopal accusing them of fraudulently enrolling the recepients of government ration scheme as BJP members.

"A video from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh is going viral. In the viral video, BJP goons are opening an office in a government ration shop and fraudulently making people members of the BJP. Just a few days ago, similar news had come from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat," Congress said in a post on X.

"BJP goons were catching hold of people and forcing them to get membership and those who showed reluctance were being beaten up. This 'make you a member gang' of BJP is active across the country and is hell-bent on making you a member of BJP without your consent. Be careful of such people, be alert. Issued in public interest," Congress further said.

Madhya Pradesh Has Become Second State In County To Cross One Crore-Mark

The BJP has registered over one crore members in Madhya Pradesh during the first phase of its membership drive, which took place between September 2 and 25, a party leader said on Thursday. The total membership count for this phase reached 1,00,81,432, according to the leader.

The second phase of the drive is scheduled to run from October 1 to October 15, state BJP chief V D Sharma informed PTI.

"This achievement of enrolling 1,00,81,432 members is the result of the hard work of our dedicated workers," Sharma said.

With this milestone, Madhya Pradesh has become the second state in India to surpass the one crore mark, following Uttar Pradesh, where 1.25 crore members have been registered so far, according to MP BJP media chief Ashish Agrawal.
