Bengaluru Horror: Woman Found Dismembered In Fridge Was From Nepal. Mom Of 1 Lived Alone

A 26-year-old woman was murdered in Bengaluru, with her body parts found in a refrigerator. The victim, Mahalakshmi, had left her husband and moved to Bengaluru five months prior.

A 26-year-old woman was found murdered and her chopped-off body parts stuffed in a refrigerator in Bengaluru on Saturday. The gruesome crime came to the fore after residents of the area alerted the police after detecting a strong stench from her house.

The victim was identified as Mahalakshmi from Nelamangala near Bengaluru. She originally hailed from Nepal and was married to one Hemanth Das five years ago, reported The Hindu. The couple has a four-year old child.

According to the police, the couple had differences after which she left him from Nelamangala and came to Bengaluru where she was living alone. She was working as a salesperson at a shop at a mall.

Mahalakshmi's husband used to visit her once in a while, the police said.

She lived alone in the rented house and did not communicate much with the neighbours. She had not contacted her family and relatives also for many days. Her brother Sunil, who worked at a shop in Koramangla said she was not in touch with him for many days. “I was informed by one of the relatives and came to see her. We have not spoken or met for many days,” Sunil said, as per the report.

One of the women from her neighbourhood said Mahalakshmi moved into the first floor of the building five months ago. She would leave by 9:30 am and return only after 10:30 pm due to which she would hardly stay at home or talk to anyone.

A person stayed with her for a few days and claimed to be her brother. We did not even know that she was married,” the neighbour said.

As part of the investigation, police are checking with her workplace and why the management did not try to check on her when she was not reporting for work.

The police said a man used to visit her often to pick up and drop her. A case of murder has been lodged by the police and efforts are underway to track down the man, they said.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the police have collected a lot of information and clues linked to the case.

"One individual is also been...kind of they say he is the one. Unless we collect more information we can't really say. He is from West Bengal they say...We have already taken a lot of precautions for women's safety in Bengaluru...We are very careful about it..."
