Assam Man Kills Wife And 3-Year-Old Son In Ayodhya, Search On To Nab Him

The incident took place in Bachhra Sultanpur, a slum area in Ayodhya, where around 40 families from Guwahati who earn a living by collecting scrap reside in makeshift homes.

A man allegedly killed his wife and three-year-old son in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya and has been on the run since then. The incident took place in Bachhra Sultanpur, a slum area, where around 40 families from Guwahati who earn a living by collecting scrap reside in makeshift homes.

The 35-year-old woman and her son were found murdered on Saturday morning in the slum area, prompting a police investigation and forensic probe.

The accused, identified as Shahjan Khandkar, allegedly killed his wife and their son during the night before fleeing the scene. He reportedly asked his 13-year-old son to sleep outside before the attack. Following this, he attacked his wife using a sharp object, causing fatal injuries to her face. He then allegedly killed the younger son, India Today reported.

It was only when the elder son entered the hut in the morning and discovered the bodies that the incident was brought to the fore. Shocked to see his family killed, the son started crying, which alerted neighbours, who gathered at the scene and informed the police about the murder. A forensic team then arrived to examine the area, and the bodies were taken for post-mortem.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, who visited the site, said: “A woman and a child have been killed. They are originally from Assam. An investigation is underway, and the accused will be arrested soon.”

Residents of the area said the families had been living in the area for several years without legal permission. They claimed to have filed multiple complaints through the Chief Minister's portal and the local police, but said no action was taken.

“We have filed complaints several times with the police and on the CM portal, but the land was never vacated. Today, a mother and child were killed on this very land," Piyush Chandra, the owner of the land said, the report noted.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to search and nab the accused and police are questioning neighbours and family members as part of the investigation.
