Assam AIUDF MLA Thrashes Man With Banana Plant. VIDEO Viral
AIUDF MLA Shamsul Huda is under scrutiny for assaulting a contractor's employee with a banana plant during a foundation stone-laying ceremony.

Did you ever imagine that a banana plant could be used as a weapon? This is exactly what happened in Assam earlier this week. The Badaruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF has come under public lens for the shocking behaviour of one of its MLAs in Assam. In a viral video, AIUDF MLA from Shamsul Huda is seen thrashing a contractor's employee with a banana plant.
The AIUDF MLA first slapped the man and then, in a fit of rage, uprooted a small banana plant and thrashed him with it.

Why Did AIUDF MLA Assault Man?
The Bilasipara MLA assaulted the contractor’s employee during a foundation stone-laying ceremony for an RCC bridge at Daikhowa Market. The purported victim, Sahidur Rahman, who works as a mohri (casual worker/labourer) for contractor Avinash Agarwal, said the assault was completely unprovoked.
According to Rahman, the attack stemmed from a trivial issue — the MLA was not happy with the size of the banana plant used during the foundation-laying ceremony for the bridge. Using a banana plant for auspicious events is a custom in Assam.
'Humiliating Attack'
Rahman described his humiliation and distress to India Today NE. "I was simply performing my duties when MLA Huda, without any provocation, attacked me. I never imagined I would be treated this way by a public representative. It was both painful and deeply humiliating," he said.
He said he would file a complaint against the MLA.
India Today NE reported that the Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal slammed the MLA's behaviour. Monsur Rahman, organising secretary of Raijor Dal’s central committee, called the act nothing short of "hooliganism". He said such actions by an elected official set a dangerous precedent and undermined the trust of the people.
