Mukhtar Ansari’s Wife Declared Fugitive By UP Police, Rs 50,000 Bounty Announced

Afsha Ansari, the absconding wife of late gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, has been declared a fugitive, and a reward has been increased to Rs 50,000 for information leading to her arrest. 

A district court in Mau has also issued a non-bailable warrant against her and took this action in connection with case number 129/2020 registered at the Dakshin Tola police station.

Due to her repeated failure to appear in court, proceedings under Section 299 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) have been initiated, and her name is now being entered into the Makrool Register — a list of absconding accused who fail to appear in court.

On the other end, Afsa Ansari has still not recorded her statement at the Dakshin Tola police station, where her case was registered. In response, the court has issued a permanent arrest warrant, taking strict action against her. Before this, actions under Sections 82 and 83 had already been initiated against her.

Afsa Ansari Declared Wanted Person

Circle Officer (City) Anjani Kumar Pandey stated that following the court’s order, the next phase of legal proceedings is being expedited. He added, “Afsa Ansari had already been declared a wanted person, and now her name will be entered in the Makrool Register. Legal proceedings are underway as per the court’s directives.”

After Mukhtar Ansari’s death, the increasing legal pressure on his family has caused unrest among his supporters. It is clear that the authorities are taking a firm stance and are unwilling to offer any concessions.

As per several media reports, Ansari, who was in prison, died due to a cardiac arrest while being treated in March 2024. His family accused that poison was added to his food in jail on multiple occasions, resulting in a heart attack.
