Speeding Mercedes Crashes At Mumbai Airport Parking As Driver Loses Control, Foreign Tourists Among 5 Injured
The two foreign nationals are undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital, while the injured crew members at the airport are being treated at Cooper Hospital.

An accident took place in the parking area of terminal 2 at Mumbai International Airport on Sunday. The incident occurred when the driver of a Mercedes, who had arrived from a hotel in Navi Mumbai to drop off passengers, lost control of the vehicle.
According to the police, five people were injured in the accident, including two Czech Republic nationals and three airport crew members. The two foreign nationals are undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital, while the injured crew members at the airport are being treated at Cooper Hospital.
As per police reports, at Airport Gate No. 1, the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake on a speed breaker, leading to a loss of control over the vehicle. The police seized both the car and the driver and registered a case against him at Sahar Police Station.
Sahar Police is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
ANI report further revealed that all five individuals are in stable condition and are receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital. Mumbai Police have taken both the vehicle and the driver into custody.
Initial investigations indicate that the driver was not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs during the incident. A case has been registered against him, and further inquiries are in progress.
Bag With Chemical Catches Fire At Mumbai Airport, 5 Arrested
In a separate incident, 5 individuals have been arrested after a bag containing an inflammable chemical caught fire just before being loaded onto an Ethiopian Airlines Mumbai-Addis Ababa flight at Mumbai International Airport.
According to PTI, the incident occurred on Friday morning (August 16, 2024).
The arrested individuals include Samir Narayanchandra Bishwas (31) from Nadiyal, West Bengal, who was allegedly carrying the bag, along with Nandan Dinesh Yadav (26), Suresh Subba Singh (46), Vishwanath Balasubramaniam Senjundhar (37), and Akhilesh Gajraj Yadav (37), according to an official from Sahar Police Station.
Additionally, Naveen Sharma, believed to be in Congo, is wanted in connection with the case, the official added.
