After Delhi, 40 Bengaluru Schools Receive Bomb Threat Via Emails

The Bengaluru City Police responded rapidly, deploying bomb disposal and dog squads to search the evacuated campuses.

Panic gripped parts of Bengaluru on Thursday morning after 40 private schools, including institutions in RR Nagar and Kengeri, received bomb threat emails, prompting a swift and large-scale response from the city police. At least four schools under the jurisdiction of Bengaluru’s Central division police received threatening emails on Thursday, claiming that explosives had been planted inside classrooms.

According to officials, bomb threat messages were sent to the official email IDs of the schools, triggering immediate evacuation and security protocols. The Bengaluru City Police quickly deployed multiple teams, including Bomb Disposal Squads and dog squads, to all affected campuses to conduct comprehensive searches of classrooms, corridors, school buses, and nearby premises.

"Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (Trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden, in black plastic bags," the mail stated, as per a report on PTI.

After authorities conducted thorough searches, officials later confirmed the threats to be hoaxes.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara told ANI, "Many schools have received bomb threats today. The police are investigating."

Delhi Bomb Threat

A fresh wave of bomb threat emails sent shockwaves across Delhi on Thursday, initially targeting 20 schools and later extending to prestigious institutions including St. Xavier’s School, IP College for Women, Hindu College, and Shri Ram College of Commerce.

Authorities acted promptly, with Delhi Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad, and the Fire Department conducting emergency evacuations and thorough campus searches. By late morning, no explosives were found, and officials confirmed the threats were most likely hoaxes.

Cybercrime teams have begun tracing the origin of the emails, which contained disturbing language and threats of mass violence. Standard security protocols were activated across all affected institutions.
