Tata Electronics To Resume Partial Operations At Hosur Facility; Full Pay Ensured For Workers

At the time of the fire incident, around 1,500 workers were inside the factory during the morning shift. All workers were safely evacuated

Tata Electronics announced plans to resume partial operations at its Hosur factory, which has been shut down since a massive fire broke out on September 28. The fire, which occurred in a chemical godown, forced the electronics component factory to suspend activities.

According to ANI on Thursday, a Tata Electronics spokesperson said that the safety of employees remains the company’s top priority. "The safety and well-being of our employees is always our top priority, and we've been working diligently since Saturday to support our team and to identify the cause of the fire at our Hosur facility.  We plan to restart work in many areas of the facility today. And as we work toward resuming full operations, all our team members will continue to receive full pay," the the spokesperson said.

The company also assured that all employees would continue to receive full pay as efforts are made to resume full operations.

At the time of the incident, around 1,500 workers were inside the factory during the morning shift. All workers were safely evacuated. However, some employees experienced respiratory issues due to the smoke and were taken to a private hospital for treatment. Videos circulating online showed thick clouds of smoke rising from the facility, which is located about two and a half hours from Bengaluru.

Approximately 10-12 fire trucks were deployed to control the blaze, and the fire took several hours to bring under control. Senior government officials, including members of the legislative assembly (MLAs), were present to assess the situation.

Tata Electronics manufactures smartphone cases for Apple's iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series at the Hosur plant. The fire incident is not expected to disrupt iPhone supplies, as the company reportedly has sufficient stock to meet demand for the next three months.
