Facebook Fuel 2020: As the first edition of Facebook Fuel 2020 for India kicked off on Tuesday, Indian business magnate and chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani engaged in profound conversation with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in which both discussed about enormous opportunities in the digital space for India. The two business leaders spoke about the impact of digital connectivity to empower the masses, how small businesses get the required push with the correct technology and tools in place. Ambani said that Facebook has become the face of a digitally connected India and called Zuckerberg the true architect of the digital connectivity for the world. The Reliance Jio and Facebook struck a deal after with a foreign direct investment by the social media giant in Jio Platforms. It is aimed at leveraging the scale and platform advantages of WhatsApp, WhatsApp for Businesses, WhatsApp Pay and JioMart to get even more offline shopkeepers and small businesses online. Zuckerberg said millions of small businesses value Facebook’s tools and these businesses will be a key part of the global recovery in the post-Covid era. Jio could maintain 99.99 percent availability of the network across the country through the pandemic, helping everyone to work from home through these months, said Mukesh Ambani. Jio brings digital connectivity, WhatsApp with WhatsApp Pay brings inclusivity, Reliance Retail and JioMart gives everyone in India a chance to be at part with global services around the world. Technology adoption will help India create a more equal wealth growth at the bottom of the pyramid, says Ambani to Zuckerberg. While Ambani exuded confident that India will grow to become one of the top three economies in the world within the next two decades. "Together, we are now a value creation platform for users and businesses," says Ambani to Zuckerberg on their partnership. The event is spaced out over two days, December 15 and December 16 and is a virtual event. Facebook wants to use this platform to showcase what they call the stories of change in India through the Facebook family’s products and programs currently available in India.
