Petrol & Diesel Price Hike: Congress Holds 'Padyatra' To Protest Surging Fuel Costs
As prices rise consistently for the 12th day, opposition parties protest. Congress will hold a 'Padyatra' in Rajasthan today.
New Delhi: For the 12th day, fuel prices are on the rise and to protest the consistently rising price, Congress will organize a 'padyatra' today. Congress has been demanding withdrawal of taxes on petrol and diesel which the Centre has imposed during the last six years. "This in itself will reduce petrol price to Rs 61.92 per litre and diesel price to Rs 47.51 per litre. Every common Indian deserves this relief immediately," party leader Gaurav Vallabh said. Earlier Congress protested in Madhya Pradesh.
The 'padyatra' will start from the party headquaters to the Galta gate in Jaipur.
Meanhwile, Trinamool Congress organized demonstrations in West Bengal protesting the rising fuel prices.
Soaring fuel prices is effecting the comman man as it has really put a strain on their budgets. In New Delhi, Petrol is priced at Rs. 90.58 and Diesel is at Rs. 80.97. Price of diesel has risen by 37 paise per litre and petrol by 39 paise per litre in Delhi. Petrol and diesel being sold at Rs 97.10 per litre and Rs 89.44 per litre respectively in Jaipur. Meanwhile, in Mumbai Petrol crossed Rs 97 per litre with a hike of 38 paise and diesel rose to Rs 87.06 per litre after an increase of 39 paise. In Chennai, the price of petrol is 92.59 and diesel is Rs.85.98.
In Kolkata, the price of petrol rose to Rs 91.78 per litre while diesel now costs Rs 84.56 per litre. On Thursday, petrol price crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Madhya Pradesh this comes after Rajasthan where the prices crossed the 100-mark.
