Mahindra Recalls Over 1,500 Units Of Thar Diesel Variant - Here's Why

The recall is for proactive inspection and replacement of camshaft, manufactured between September 7 and December 25 last year for only limited days of manufacturing on a batch of 1,577 units of its Thar diesel variants, the company said.

In compliance with the voluntary code of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on vehicle recall, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced to recall the batch of 1,577 units of its Thar diesel variant.

The recall is for proactive inspection and replacement of camshaft, manufactured between September 7 and December 25 last year for only limited days of manufacturing on a batch of 1,577 units of its Thar diesel variants, the company said.

Mahindra & Mahindra further said a machine setting error at the supplier’s plant on specific dates may have affected camshafts in some engines of the Mahindra Thar diesel variants, adding the company has hence proactively engaged in this limited recall and offered inspection and subsequent rectification.

The company will be individually contacting the Thar customers and the inspection and subsequent rectification will be carried out free of cost.

Earlier last month, Mahindra & Mahindra had announced the prices of its range of Personal and Commercial vehicles increased by around 1.9 percent effective January 8, 2021. 

Mahindra & Mahindra had said all fresh bookings for All New Thar will have prices as applicable on delivery date.
