Budget Session 2022: Congress To Raise Issues On Pegasus & Farm Distress In Upcoming Session

The first part of the Budget session will be held from January 31 to February 11, and then it will go on a recess. The second part will be held from March 14 to April 8.

New Delhi: The Budget Session of the Parliament which is set to begin from Monday will not be any quieter than the previous parliamentary sessions as the opposition is set to target the center by raising the issues concerning Pegasus snooping row, farm distress, and Chinese “incursions” in eastern Ladakh, reported news agency PTI.

According to a report by PTI, the main opposition, Congress said that they will approach the like-minded parties and raise issues that will include demand for relief packages for COVID-19 victims, sale of Air India, and the Pegasus snooping row during the session.

The first part of the Budget session will be held from January 31 to February 11, and then it will go on a recess. The second part will be held from March 14 to April 8.

The first part will begin with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to both the lower and upper houses in the central hall of the parliament. It will be followed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s presentation on Economic Survey 2021-22. The Finance Minister will present the Budget on Tuesday.

Considering the covid-19 third wave, the Lok Sabha (lower house) and the Rajya Sabha (upper house) will be sitting in separate shifts with members seated across the chambers.

The Rajya Sabha will be sitting in the first half of the day and Lok Sabha will be sitting in the second half of the day.

The first four days of the session are reserved for the Motion of Thanks regarding the President’s address. The Lok Sabha will take the discussion on the same on Wednesday, following which, the PM is expected to reply to the debate on February 7.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu will be chairing a meeting with floor leaders of the political parties to ensure smooth functioning of the sessions.
