Adani Green Energy Operationalises 1,000 MW Solar Energy At Khavda RE Park In Gujarat
Adani Green Energy's operational capacity now stands at an impressive 9,478 MW, firmly advancing towards its ambitious target of 45,000 MW by the year 2030
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s foremost renewable energy (RE) firm and a global leader in the field, has successfully initiated operations for a cumulative capacity of 1,000 MW of solar energy at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat, which stands as the largest of its kind globally. AGEL's operational capacity now stands at an impressive 9,478 MW, firmly advancing towards its ambitious target of 45,000 MW by the year 2030.
AGEL accomplished the delivery of 1,000 MW within a span of fewer than 12 months from the commencement of work at the Khavda site. This feat involved the installation of about 2.4 million solar modules, showcasing AGEL's steadfast dedication to contributing to India's objective of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Spanning a vast expanse of 538 square km of barren land, the Khavda project, envisioned as the world’s largest RE plant with a capacity of 30 GW, surpasses even the scale of major global cities like Paris. Anticipated to be finalised within the next five years, this project is projected to generate over 15,200 jobs in the green sector, bolstering economic opportunities in the region.
AGEL leverages the combined strengths of Adani Infra's project execution prowess, the technological expertise of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), and the operational excellence of AIMSL, alongside a robust supply chain. This synergy enables AGEL to replicate its success in establishing and operating India’s premier wind-solar hybrid cluster in Jaisalmer on a grand scale.
Innovative solutions are being implemented at Khavda to incorporate sustainable practices into the project. AGEL has committed to deploying waterless cleaning robots across the entire solar capacity to combat dust accumulation on panels, thereby enhancing energy output and conserving water resources in the arid Kutch region. This initiative aligns with AGEL's commitment to achieving water neutrality, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
The Khavda plant stands as a testament to AGEL's unwavering commitment to sustainable progress and its pivotal role in accelerating India's transition to clean energy while fostering social and environmental well-being in the region. Supported by a strategic network of vendors, AGEL is spearheading the development of the world’s largest renewable energy project on barren lands in Khavda, Gujarat, setting a new benchmark in global renewable energy endeavours.
