New Delhi: Toyota yesterday launched the Hilux pick-up truck in India and while its prices are not out yet, the deliveries would start from April. We will know the pricing in March but bookings have started. As mentioned earlier, the Hilux is a pick-up along with being available with a single diesel engine option in India. In this article, we will discuss the features and the specifications of the Hilux.

Specifications

The Hilux has been launched with a 2.8-liter diesel engine which makes 204 bhp and 420/500 Nm. The higher torque figure is for the 6-speed automatic version. The lower torque figure is the standard version with the 6-speed manual. Since the Hilux is more of an off-road-based vehicle, it has 4x4 standards. The Hilux also comes with drive modes where you can change from Eco to Power or Power to Eco. Like any true off-road-oriented truck, the Hilux has a low ratio gearbox for off-roading along with an  Electronic diff-lock. Toyota has also revealed that it has a wading depth of 700 Nm.

Features

Toyota has made sure that the Hilux is well equipped and in that sense, the exterior gets LED headlamps with DRLs along with 18-inch alloy wheels. The headlamps have DRLs and turn-indicators too. Moving on, the Hilux gets an eight-inch Smart Playcast Touchscreen Audio (with Android Auto/Apple Carplay) and Smartphone-based Navigation. There are also leather seats with the automatic variant, a cooled glovebox plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a front sliding center armrest. The Hilux does pack in similar luxury features to the Fortuner with dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Eight-way Powered Front Seat (Driver), a rearview camera with front/rear parking sensors, and electronic adjustment for the outside rear-view mirror.

Safety features include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Assist & Downhill Assist Electronic Controls, Trailer Sway Control, automatic limited-slip differential, etc. The other important bit is the fact that the Hilux has a 5-Star Crash Safety Rating by New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

Hilux has 5 colours- Emotional Red, White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Super White & Grey Metallic

Accessories

The Hilux has available accessories like a tent with canopy, tailgate assist, wireless charging and a tonneau cover etc.
