From Punch To Scorpio, Popular SUVs That India Loved The Most In 2024

The big change happened with the fact that the SUV segment expanded and encroached the hatchback space. In 2024 SUVs were popular but these towered above the rest.

We loved SUVs and that love only grew in 2024 with the SUV dethroning the hatchback for the top sales spot. Hatchbacks till now have had a firm spot amongst the list of best selling cars but now SUVs have moved in. The big change happened with the fact that the SUV segment expanded and encroached the hatchback space. In 2024 SUVs were popular but these towered above the rest.

Tata Punch

First of all it is the Tata Punch which continues to reign supreme and it is the car that Indians loved the most. The Punch has been continuing to notch up huge sales but in 2024 it has scaled its success and post revisions along with an EV version, the Punch brand has grown stronger in terms of sales. A lot of it is due to the styling, features and the toughness of the car despite the fact that there is no diesel. The other SUV is an even bigger success if you take into account the price.

Hyundai Creta

The Creta is not a mass market car with prices which start after Rs 10 lakh but it remains a huge seller being one of the top 3 best selling cars in India in 2024! The Creta got an update earlier this year and that propelled sales further. The Creta comes with two petrol options while also having a diesel version while the interiors received a features upgrade too. Further on, Hyundai also added a sportier Creta N line to the range. The upcoming EV version will also bolster the Creta sales.

Maruti Brezza

The other big performers include the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which despite no diesel or having as many features as some of the newer subcompact SUVs still managed to hold onto its popularity. The reason is the fact the Brezza has great fuel efficiency which is key to its sales performance and its space. The Maruti sales network and the new design that the Brezza has also has managed to look fresh even in the presence of newer competition.

Mahindra Scorpio

The Scorpio as a brand is still one of those names which have maintained their popularity over the years. However, the newer Scorpio N has changed this brand name while moving it into a different direction. The Scorpio N with its looks and more importantly a change in the way it drives, comfort to the features has brought in the concept of a rugged but features packed SUV which rivals new compact SUVs. The Scorpio N comes with both diesel and petrol engines too.
