Range Rover Locally Manufactured Review: Popular Luxury SUV Is Better Value

In locally manufactured form, the Range Rover is available with 3.0l petrol and diesel engines while the pricier V8 is being kept as an import

It is an SUV that Bollywood and the jet set swear by and it is one of the most popular cars in the super luxury space. Despite its price, India's elite don't mind splurging on the Range Rover which remains a status symbol. Now though expect it to be gain even more popularity with this new locally manufactured version.

Yes, the big Range Rover is now manufactured here and that means a massive Rs 54 lakh price drop for this big SUV in its petrol avatar as seen here. In locally manufactured form, the Range Rover is available with 3.0l petrol and diesel engines while the pricier V8 is being kept as an import. Crucially the Range Rover has no change in equipment and infact is now better value too. At Rs 2.6 cr it is much better priced than rivals and that is the key along with lesser waiting periods.

As for the car, the Range Rover in new generation has been a hit mostly due to its classy styling. It is very minimalist but with a length of 5.2m the huge length and the authoritative stance gains immense road presence. The interiors meanwhile show you where the crores have went. Everywhere you see and touch is high quality materials while the massive curved touchscreen has all of the controls.

We wish for more physical controls though but the Meridian audio system to the 24 way electric adjustable seats with massage and more is really top drawer. The same is at the rear with a huge amount of space and of course everything is electric with even the cupholder being automatic to the huge panoramic glass roof. It is filled with options and features too so nothing left out.

While it requires a climb, once inside the Range Rover has a typical raised suv driving position plus good visibility. Also after a while you get used to the sheer size of it while tight turns are being taken care by the rear steering which cuts the turning circle. The 3.0l petrol is quiet but let's out a faint grumble when pushed hard while the smooth steering makes it a relaxing car to drive. The air suspension enables you to glide over bad roads while only those large wheels giving it a tiny bit of a firm edge at low speeds.

What sets this SUV apart is the ground clearance which can be raised to 249mm and the excellent 900mm wading depth which means you will not be stuck in your Range Rover when flooded roads enter your way.

The petrol Range Rover at Rs 2.6 cr is now much better priced than rivals which only makes it even more appealing now hence expect to see even more Range Rovers across posher parts of India.
