Nexon EV And Punch EV Slashed Prices: Time To Switch From Petrol?

This special festive season offer brings in a massive price cut Rs 3 lakh and 6-month free charging at Tata Power charging stations

Tata Motors have drastically reduced prices of their Nexon EV and the Punch EV where the prices now meet their ICE counterparts. This special festive season offer brings in a massive price cut Rs 3 lakh and 6-month free charging at Tata Power charging stations.

This is a step to push EV sales which are declining due to lack of FAME incentives. The Punch EV which earlier used to start at Rs 11 lakh now starts below Rs 10 lakh while the Nexon EV starts at Rs 12.49 Lakh. The top-end Nexon EV is Rs 16.2 lakh while getting the biggest price cut. So, does this make sense over the petrol counterparts?

The Nexon is priced between Rs 8- 15.8 lakh while the top-spec variants do meet the pricing of the EV too. The Punch though still remains cheaper with the petrol Punch having a more accessible asking price of Rs 6.13 lakh while the top-end is Rs 10 lakh plus. Compared to petrol cars, the EVs are massively cheaper to run with less cost per km using it everyday along with less maintenance cost as well.

Plus compared to the petrol cars, the EVs are better and smoother to drive which means they are perfect for city use. However, charging infrastructure still remains an issue and also long distance driving in terms of range along with resale value to some extent. But, if you use it within the city and charge it at home, both of these EVs do make sense due to being cheaper.

This offer would run upto 31st October and is a bid to increase EV sales which have been slow lately for some of the reasons mentioned above along with the fact that the EV version typically has been a lot more expensive over the ICE, which this move aims to reduce.
