Suddenly the market now has two new sedans on offer and today Honda launched its new generation Amaze while Maruti launched the new Dzire sometime back. The new Dzire is cheaper than the Amaze though as it starts at Rs 6.7 lakh while the Amaze starts at Rs 7.99 lakh. Top-end for both cross the Rs 10 lakh mark with the Amaze costing Rs 10.8 lakh and the Dzire coming in at Rs 10.14 lakh. If we look at the dimensions, both have the same length of 3995mm but the Dzire is wider at 1735mm vs the Amaze at 1733mm. The Dzire has a ground clearance of 163mm while the Amaze has a ground clearance of 172mm. In terms of wheelbase the Dzire has a wheelbase of 2450mm vs the Amaze at 2470mm. Boot space of the Amaze is 416l while the Dzire has a boot capacity of 382l.
If we look at power, the Amaze has a four cylinder 1.2l petrol with 90bhp with CVT and manual options while the Dzire has a three cylinder 82 bhp 1.2l petrol with manual and AMT options. Efficiency is important and here the Dzire scores 25.7 kmpl for the AMT while the Amaze scores 19.4 kmpl for the CVT. Features common in both include climate control, steering controls, rear AC vents, LED lighting, connected car tech, 6 airbags standards and more. That said, Amaze has ADAS and a lane watch camera/ air purifier while the Dzire has a sunroof as well as a 360 degree camera vs a rear camera of Amaze. Amaze gets a middle headrest though at the rear seat.
It is clear that both are well equipped and prices in the same bracket while the Amaze has more performance vs the Dzire which has more efficiency. That said, both of them will pull some SUV buyers here back to sedans.
