MG M9- Is It Worth A Buy?

The M9 is surprisingly easy to drive and its electric powertrain means it is very quiet but only the ride is a slightly firm at low-speeds which does not bring the softness one expects.

The first product from the MG Select brand has been launched and it comes in at Rs 69.9 lakh (introductory). There are no variants but it has a single fully loaded trim which offers everything. However, the question is whether the M9 is worth buying or not? The M9 is electric, which is different from the diesel Carnival and the hybrid Vellfire. While its 90kwh NMC Battery pack is huge, the range would be around 400km in the real world considering the weight of the car.

However, behind the wheel, the M9 is surprisingly easy to drive and its electric powertrain means it is very quiet but only the ride is a slightly firm at low-speeds which does not bring the softness one expects. That said, the power delivery is linear which means chauffeur driven owners will like the smoothness with no jerks. For city roads, the M9 seems big which means tackling narrow roads will be an issue but that size brings in sheer road presence which eclipse other luxury cars at this price. Out on the highway, the M9 handles its bulk well and is stable while not being too floaty.

The main reason to buy the M9 though would be the rear seat and the sheer space. It is huge and the individual seats are soft/comfortable and comes with a lot of features being available in the individual touch-screens. The seas themselves offer massage and plenty of adjustment while even the third row is massive in space.

Overall, this car is for the chauffeur driven owner and for that, the space and features seen here make for a good deal. It brings Vellfire like comfort and luxury but at Carnival price which for buyers might seem as a tempting alternative to other similarly priced luxury cars.
