Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid To Launch After E Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a busy year ahead and one of the key launches would be the e Vitara electric SUV. However, the carmaker will also be bringing something new in terms of technology. Yes, the carmaker will also launch the hybrid version of its Fronx. Currently, at the affordable end of the segment, Maruti offers mild hybrid options but this new Fronx hybrid would be a proper hybrid set-up while having record fuel efficiency.

The Fronx hybrid is expected to return upwards of 30kmpl making it the most fuel efficient car on sale in India. The hybrid system is not a full strong hybrid as seen on the Grand Vitara or Invicto where you run either with a combination of an electric only for sometime or combination of petrol as well as hybrid.

This new hybrid system is more affordable which means Maruti will be able to place it in cars like the Fronx. It will be a range extender hybrid with the car running on its electric motor only but you do not need to charge it. This removes range anxiety and the petrol engine acts as a generator. Hence, the engine will not power the car directly.

A hybrid will be more complex and expensive while this would be cheaper. The launch of the Fronx hybrid would be after the e Vitara but would be expected to be this year. This would be an important launch while giving more fuel efficiency over traditional hybrids even or would be even cheaper to run than an EV. We expect the Fronx hybrid to be around Rs 1 lakh or more expensive since knowing Maruti Suzuki, they will price it competitively.
