Mahindra 'Thar.e' Not Based On Current Thar And Will Come In A Few Years
Based on Born electric architecture, Mahindra will soon showcase an electric version of Thar called 'Thar.e' during an event in South Africa.
Mahindra will showcase an electric concept version of the Thar called Thar.e at it's upcoming event in South Africa while the production version is expected to come in a few years' time. The new concept is based on the Born electric architecture and will sport different styling cues and won't be just be an electric version of the current Thar. The teaser shows many concept-like details and similar to the Scorpio N pick-up which will also be showcased at the event.
The new Thar.e won't be based on the current Thar platform as instead it is based on its Born electric architecture and that brings many advantages. The born electric architecture will use Volkswagen MEB components while packing in higher range plus flexibility too with a flat floor and more.
Mahindra will also tackle the issue of weight and battery size while range is also expected to be increased with a born electric architecture. Mahindra has not announced any more details regarding the Thar.e but we expect it to have a good amount of range while having a radical design with some differences over the regular Thar.
The Born electric architecture will pack in dual motor plus all wheel drive along with all of the flexibility in terms of making an EV. This will be a concept version and the production version is some years away as Mahindra will first launch other Evs from its new EV architecture. That said the Thar.e is an important car in increasing the Thar brand in India plus being a 4x4 off-roader in electric is also a new segment for the Indian market as and when it will eventually come.
