Hyundai Exter Vs Venue: What Are The Differences?

The Exter is smaller and more pocket friendly while looking funky along with a more compact styling. It is a smaller SUV for city use while the Venue gets the bigger engine line-up and more features.

The latest SUV in the Hyundai India line-up is the Exter and it will be launched in a few days time. However, Hyundai also has another below 4m SUV called the Venue which is one of its most popular products so what are the differences between the Exter and the Venue? Let us take a look.

The Venue measures in at just 3995mm and the Exter is expected to be just below that. The Venue is a subcompact SUV while the Exter is a micro SUV or in other words, it is of a smaller segment. Styling wise, there are clear differences between the two. The new Venue gets a larger grille and connected tail-lamps while the look is more premium. The Exter is more youthful and funky with its Parametric design highlights. There is a dual grillee with slim headlamps while the silhouette is smaller but still SUV-like with roof rails. The Exter also gets a skid plate. There would be funky colours on the Exter too. In short, the Venue is larger and more premium looking while the Exter is more youthful.

The Exter is based on the Nios platform and on the inside, while both get high quality interiors, the Venue gets more features obviously while the Exter is not far behind. Features like a touchscreen, connected car technology etc are common while the Venue gets electric seat adjustment, a sunroof, air purifier etc. We expect the Exter to come with connected car tech and wireless charging etc.

Another big difference is ofcourse on the feature list since the Exter will come with a 1.2l petrol with a factory fitted CNG option with either a manual or an AMT gearbox. The Venue on the other hand also comes with a 1.2l petrol but along with that, there is a turbo petrol and a diesel too. The turbo petrol gets an iMT and a DCT while the diesel gets a manual.

Overall, the Exter is smaller and more pocket friendly while looking funky along with a more compact styling. It is a smaller SUV for city use while the Venue gets the bigger engine line-up and more features of course. Hence, this shows that there was space below the Venue for a small SUV which the Exter fulfills. Price wise, the Exter will take on affordable SUVs like the Punch from Tata.
