Maruti Suzuki Jimny Safety Rating — What Will It Be?
In terms of safety rating, the Jimny 3-door in Europe has secured a 3 star safety rating within their stringent crash tests.
The Maruti Jimny launch is just a few days away and one of the most discussed things other than the price is of course the safety rating. The Jimny in its 5-door form was shown at the Auto Expo and with a first look, the car did impress us with its solid build quality- especially how tough it feels. In terms of safety rating, the Jimny 3-door in Europe has secured a 3-star safety rating within their stringent crash tests.
This was in 2018 when the 3-door Jimny scored 73 per cent in Adult occupant protection while getting 84 per cent in child occupant protection. The model tested was for a 3-door version hence, while the 5-door version rating is yet to come, we think this will get a high score. The Brezza for example has scored 4 stars in the GNCAP safety rating while the above-mentioned score for the Jimny 3-door is for the Euro NCAP rating which is much tougher.

In terms of safety features, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door gets 6 airbags, Brake (LSD) Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist, hill decent control, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD. The SUV will also come with ALLGRIP PRO technology which is a proper 4x4 SUV as standard. The 4WD transfer case lets you shift from 2H two-wheel drive to 4H four-wheel drive on-the-fly. Of course, there is a 4L (low-range transfer gear) drive mode too.
The Jimny would be launched with a K-series 1.5-litre engine with Idle Start-Stop technology with both manual as well as automatic options. The manual would be a 5-speed manual gearbox while there is also going to be a 4-speed torque converter automatic. The prices for the Jimny officially will be revealed by next month. We will be driving the Jimny soon so stay tuned.
