BYD eMAX 7 Vs Toyota Innova Hycross: Battle Of Electric Vs Hybrid MPVs

The premium MPV space will get interesting soon with the launch of the eMAX 7 from BYD which is the refreshed version of its e6 MPV. This means that it is entering into the segment of the Innova Hycross. The eMAX 7 is a facelifted e6 with a new look and importantly more features on the inside. Compared to the e6 which was for fleet use mostly, the eMAX 7 gets a new interior with more plush leatherette seats along with 6 and 7 seater layouts.
There is a new centre console while it continues to have a rotating touchscreen. There are more soft touch materials and a new look steering wheel. In terms of features there is a glass roof, more luxuries and ADAS.

In comparison, the Innova Hycross is also available with 6 seater layout plus there is soft touch leather, a panoramic sunroof, dash mounted gear lever and a large touchscreen too. There is also leather upholstery, ventilated seats, ADAS and Ottoman function for the second row.
The eMAX 7 is a fully electric MPV while India will continue with the larger 71.8 kWh battery pack while the range would be upwards of 500km. The Innova Hycross meanwhile is a hybrid with a 2.0l petrol where combined the efficiency is 23.24 kmpl.
In terms of price, the BYD would be more expensive with expected pricing to be in the region of Rs 30 lakh plus while the Innova Hycross is priced between Rs 19-30 lakh while do note that the Innova also comes with a petrol only engine at lower trims. While the Innova focuses on efficiency, the fully electric eMax is for those who need even more space along with being fully electric.
