Battle Of Compact SUVs: Skoda Kylaq Vs Hyundai Venue Vs Tata Nexon Vs Mahindra XUV300. Which Reigns Supreme?
For Skoda, Kylaq is their first sub4m SUV and would be positioned below the Kushaq
Skoda has revealed the name of its future sub 4m SUV as the Kylaq and it would enter a segment which is already having loads of competitors. For Skoda, this is their first sub4m SUV and would be positioned below the Kushaq. However, for the Kylaq competition would be quite high with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the new XUV 3XO from Mahindra.
Let us take a look at how the Kylaq would have to face this competition. Design wise, we expect the Kylaq to have the new design language and also will not just be a smaller Kushaq. We can expect details like the typical Skoda design but there would be short overhangs too. In competition, all of its rivals also have to slip under the 4m but they do look different.
The Nexon is perhaps one of the most radical while the XUV 3XO is also quite aggressive. The Venue meanwhile has a large grille which gives it presence. Despite the sub 4m size, buyers would be wanting more features and here the Kylaq will most probably come with a sunroof, 360 degree camera and ADAS plus a 10-screen.
If you look at its competition, here, the XUV 3XO now has a panoramic sunroof plus dual-zone climate control, 360 degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and more. The Nexon has a sunroof but a standard one along with a 360 degree camera, cooled seats, digital cluster and more.
The Venue meanwhile has a powered driver seat which is something new along with a standard sunroof and level 1 ADAS. In terms of engines, the Kylaq will come with a 1.0 TSI with manual and automatic which would be different since it would not come with a naturally aspirated unit. In comparison, the Venue has a lower priced naturally aspirated unit but the Nexon and the XUV 3XO only come with a 1.2l turbo. The difference is that the Venue, Nexon and the XUV 3XO also come with a diesel.
For the Kylaq the strengths would be the driving experience, 1.0 TSI and the looks while it will also have to match on features with rivals. In short, competition would be high when the Kylaq launches next year but we expect aggressive pricing with the localisation to be around Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.
