Auto Expo 2023: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Electric SUV Launched In India At Rs 44.95 Lakhs

The Hyundai Ioniq is powered by a 72.6 kWh battery pack promising a range of 631 km. The Ioniq 5 will be assembled in India and will be slotted above the Kona Electric.

Hyundai has launched its Ioniq 5 electric SUV in India and the price is Rs 44.95 lakh. Hyundai India unveiled its latest offering at the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an electric SUV based on Hyundai’s new electric architecture known as the E-GMP platform that underpins all premium EVs in the Hyundai Group’s lineup. However, the Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s first product based on the E-GMP platform to reach Indian shores.

At the heart of the Ioniq 5, lies a 72.6 kWh battery pack and a rear-wheel drive single motor configuration, good enough for a claimed range of 631 km, which is higher than many more expensive EVs on sale in India.

Interestingly, the Ioniq 5 is locally assembled in India which further brings down its price and provides it a competitive edge over similar CBU or fully imported rivals.

In terms of styling, the Ioniq 5 stands out from the crowd with its distinctive appeal. Its long 4635 mm body scooped in a crossover profile is an instant eye-catcher. Other details like 20-inch parametric pixel design alloy wheels and Parametric Pixel LED Headlamps add a good mix of presence and modern styling to its character.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 doesn’t fail to impress on the inside as well. Sustainable materials with eco-processed leather and soft touch materials add a fresh and upscale flair inside its cabin. The movable centre console adds to the party with its enhanced usability. True to its ‘Green’ promises, the Ioniq 5 also uses Eco Friendly Fabric being created using plastic bottles.

Being a Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 comes loaded with smart features and a plethora of advanced tech at its disposal. It comes packed with 12.3-inch screens, Bose premium audio, connected car tech, 6 airbags and ADAS level 2 features. Talking practicality, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets a flat floor, and a front luggage space compartment for storage.

Paired with a DC fast charger, the Ioniq 5 can be charged 10 % - 80 % in just 18 min.Customers can also power other devices with the V2L feature along with fast charging being present.

The Ioniq 5 occupies a niche in terms of being a premium electric SUV, but one which outshines more expensive electric SUVs with its generous range. The Ioniq 5 has been slotted above the Kona EV in India and would be the most premium Hyundai product being the Korean brands flagship of sorts.
