ABP Live Auto Awards 2022 – Luxury SUV Of The Year: Jeep Grand Cherokee scored with the right mix of driveability and comfort.
The 2022 Luxury SUV of the year has also been a fiercely contested category with various new entrants coming in this year. That said, the tough Jeep Grand Cherokee impressed us with its blend of traditional SUV characteristics and with the addition of luxury. The Grand Cherokee is a famous name within the Jeep portfolio and it is one of the most popular brand names worldwide. For the new generation model, Jeep has considerably overhauled the recipe and has made a rugged yet luxurious SUV, along with a new interior dripping with features.
That said, the luxury SUV of the year has to be more than just technology and where the Jeep Grand Cherokee scored is with the right mix of driveability and comfort. The interior comes with a classy all-black layout but the passenger side touchscreen is something unique along with digital surfaces for the driver and the centre console. However, everything is not all digital as there are plenty of high-quality knobs and switchgear with a physical touch embedded in them. The quality was also very much evident in our evaluation of the new Grand Cherokee along with the rear seat with a good view out.
Yet, you also sit high with a typical elevated driving position and the driving experience made it different from the other SUVs. The turbo-petrol engine has enough performance while adding in refinement but the 4x4 Jeep off-road system coupled with the tough suspension enables it to be perfect for our roads. The steering wheel is meaty and has enough feedback and here is a luxury SUV that works on our road conditions also.
The large size gives the Grand Cherokee a lot of presence but is not unwieldy on our roads while the handling has the poise of a true blue SUV. The Grand Cherokee is all about its toughness but the luxurious, tech-filled cabin also added another layer to its armour. Hence, for its talents on and off the road, the Grand Cherokee clinches the award of the 2022 Luxury SUV of the year.
